A stunning, halal-friendly dessert featuring layers of buttery pound cake, juicy macerated strawberries, and a velvety vanilla cream cheese whipped frosting. Perfect for Eid celebrations or summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

1 large cake (16 oz) Halal-certified Pound Cake or Angel Food Cake
2 lbs Fresh Strawberries
0.5 cup Organic Cane Sugar
3 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
8 oz Halal-certified Cream Cheese
2 tsp Non-alcoholic Vanilla Bean Paste
1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
1 handful Fresh Mint Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly, remove the green hulls, and slice them into uniform pieces
  2. Place the sliced strawberries in a large glass bowl and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of sugar and the fresh lemon juice. Stir gently and let sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate
  3. Cut the halal-certified cake into 1-inch cubes and set aside
  4. In a large chilled bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form
  5. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened halal-certified cream cheese, the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar, and the non-alcoholic vanilla bean paste until smooth
  6. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula to maintain an airy texture
  7. Begin assembly in a large glass trifle bowl by placing a layer of cake cubes at the bottom
  8. Spoon a generous amount of macerated strawberries and their syrup over the cake layer
  9. Add a thick layer of the cream cheese whipped cream mixture
  10. Repeat the layers until the bowl is full, ending with a layer of cream
  11. Garnish the top with whole strawberries and fresh mint leaves
  12. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving to allow flavors to meld

Notes

Ensure all extracts and emulsifiers in the pre-made cake are halal-certified and alcohol-free.

Denser pound cake holds up better for longer storage, while angel food cake provides a lighter texture.

This recipe can be made 12-24 hours in advance for better flavor absorption.

Keep the dessert chilled on ice if serving at an outdoor event to maintain safety.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended.
