A nourishing and comforting halal-friendly Savory Oatmeal Bowl featuring ground beef, fresh spinach, and a rich broth, topped with a fried egg for a protein-packed breakfast that breaks the sweet routine.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup Steel-cut or Rolled Oats
2 cups Halal Beef Broth
1/2 cup Halal Certified Ground Beef
1 tbsp Tamari (Halal Soy Sauce)
1 cup Fresh Spinach
2 cloves Garlic
1 tbsp Olive Oil
to taste Sea Salt and Black Pepper
2 tbsp Green Onions
2 large Eggs (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for one minute until fragrant
  3. Add the halal certified ground beef to the pan and brown thoroughly, breaking it into small crumbles
  4. Pour the oats into the pan and toast them slightly for two minutes to add nutty depth
  5. Slowly pour in the halal beef broth and the tamari, stirring well to combine
  6. Bring the liquid to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low
  7. Cover the pan and simmer according to the package directions, typically 5-10 minutes for rolled oats
  8. During the last two minutes of cooking, fold in the chopped fresh spinach to wilt
  9. Remove from heat once the oats absorb the liquid and reach a creamy consistency
  10. Season with sea salt and black pepper to preference
  11. Spoon the mixture into two bowls
  12. Top each bowl with a fried egg (cooked in halal-friendly oil) and a sprinkle of green onions

Notes

To ensure the best flavor, always choose the freshest produce and high-quality halal-certified grains.

Toasting the oats before adding liquid is a pro tip for a more complex flavor profile.

If the oatmeal looks too dry, splash in a little more broth or hot water to restore creaminess.

Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days, but freezing is not recommended as it changes the texture.
