These spooky mummy hot dogs transform ordinary hot dogs into Halloween party favorites using puff pastry wrapping and olive eyes for frightfully fun snacks.

Ingredients

  • 8 regular hot dogs
  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 16 small black olives, pitted and sliced
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

 

  • Ketchup and mustard for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Thaw puff pastry according to package directions.
  • Cut pastry into thin strips, 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
  • Pat hot dogs dry with paper towels.
  • Wrap pastry strips around hot dogs in overlapping spiral pattern.
  • Leave small section unwrapped for face area.
  • Place olive slices in face area for eyes, pressing gently.
  • Whisk egg and milk together for egg wash.
  • Brush egg wash over all pastry surfaces.
  • Bake 15-18 minutes until pastry is golden brown.

 

  • Cool 2-3 minutes before serving with dipping sauces.

  • Pastry strips don’t need to be perfectly uniform
