A quick and wholesome 5-ingredient halal ground beef dinner featuring kidney beans and taco seasoning, perfect for busy weeknights when time is short but flavor is a priority.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb Halal Certified Ground Beef
1 medium Onion, chopped
1 14.5 oz can Diced Tomatoes, undrained
1 15 oz can Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed
1 1 oz packet Halal Certified Taco Seasoning Mix
1 splash Olive oil
1 pinch Salt
1 pinch Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add a splash of olive oil, then add the halal ground beef. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes
  2. Carefully drain any excess grease from the skillet
  3. Add the chopped onion to the beef and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes
  4. Stir in the undrained diced tomatoes, drained and rinsed kidney beans, and the halal certified taco seasoning mix. Mix everything well to combine
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet and let it cook for at least 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld, stirring occasionally
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Remove from heat and serve hot

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan when browning the beef to ensure it browns properly rather than steaming.

Drain fat thoroughly after browning the meat for a cleaner flavor and less greasy texture.

A longer simmer (up to 30 minutes) will further improve the depth of flavor.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Serve with rice, tortillas, naan, or a fresh side salad.
