Ingredients

Scale

1 lb Halal Ground Beef or Chicke
12 oz Pasta
28 oz Canned Crushed Tomatoes
1 medium Onio
34 cloves Garlic
0.5 cup Halal Beef or Chicken Broth
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Dried Oregano
1 tsp Dried Basil
To taste Salt
To taste Black Pepper
Optional Fresh Parsley
For serving Grated Parmesan or Crème fraîche

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil a large pot of salted water. Add your chosen pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining
  2. Sauté Aromatics: While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant
  3. Brown the Meat: Add halal ground beef (or chicken) to the skillet. Break it apart with a spoon and cook until browned, ensuring no pink remains. Drain any excess fat
  4. Simmer the Sauce: Stir in crushed tomatoes, halal beef or chicken broth, dried oregano, and dried basil. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it cook for at least 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Season with salt and black pepper to taste
  5. Combine: Add the drained pasta directly to the sauce in the skillet. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency
  6. Serve: Toss everything together until well combined. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of halal parmesan or a dollop of crème fraîche

Notes

Always generously salt your pasta water; it's your first chance to season the pasta itself.

Never rinse cooked pasta, as this removes the starch that helps the sauce cling.

The reserved pasta water is liquid gold; its starch helps thicken the sauce and emulsify it beautifully.

Don't overcook your vegetables for the sauce; they should be tender but not mushy.

For an extra layer of flavor, finish your Dinner Ideas With Pasta with a drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil and fresh herbs like basil or parsley.

Store leftover pasta in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

For longer storage, you can freeze individual portions for up to 2 months; just ensure the container is freezer-safe.

Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of halal beef broth or water to loosen the sauce.

You can also microwave individual servings, stirring occasionally until heated through.
