A comforting and easy-to-make breakfast casserole featuring savory halal ground beef or chicken sausage, fluffy eggs, and melted cheese. This recipe is a perfect 'breakfast for dinner' solution that can be made ahead of time for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb Halal Ground Beef
8 large Eggs
2 cups Milk
2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 cup Diced Bell Peppers
0.5 cup Diced Onio
4 cups Frozen Hash Browns
1 tsp Salt
0.5 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish
  2. In a large skillet, brown the halal ground beef (or chicken sausage) over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined
  4. Spread the frozen hash browns evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish
  5. Layer the cooked meat, diced bell peppers, and onions over the hash browns
  6. Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the meat and vegetable layers
  7. Top the entire dish with a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the eggs are firmly set and the cheese is bubbly and golde
  9. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing into portions

Notes

To ensure the recipe remains strictly halal, verify that the cheese uses vegetarian-source rennet.

This dish can be assembled the night before and stored in the refrigerator; simply add 5-10 minutes to the baking time if cooking directly from the fridge.

Feel free to swap hash browns for cubed day-old bread if you prefer a strata-like texture.
