These halal-friendly Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Donuts offer a lighter alternative to deep-fried treats, featuring a soft, fluffy interior and a sweet, crunchy coating.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups All-Purpose Flour
0.75 cup Granulated Sugar
0.75 cup Halal Warm Milk
4 tbsp Unsalted Halal Butter
1 packet Halal Instant Yeast (2.25 tsp)
2 tbsp Ground Cinnamo
1 tsp Non-Alcoholic Halal Vanilla
0.5 tsp Salt
1 large Egg (Halal)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk (110°F), 1 tablespoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until frothy
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and halal vanilla, mixing until a soft dough forms
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, then place in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2-inch thickness. Use donut cutters to shape the dough, then let the cut shapes rest on a parchment-lined tray for 15 minutes
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and lightly spray the basket with halal oil
  6. Place donuts in the basket without touching and air fry for 3 to 5 minutes per side until golden brow
  7. Brush warm donuts with a small amount of melted butter and immediately toss in a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar to coat

Notes

Ensure the yeast is fresh; it must foam during the activation step.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation.

For a dairy-free version, use halal-certified coconut or almond milk.

Leftovers can be stored at room temperature for up to two days or frozen for up to a month without the coating.

Reheat in the air fryer at 320°F for 2 minutes to restore the crunch.
