A quick and comforting one-pan 30-minute meal featuring savory ground beef, tender elbow macaroni, and a creamy, gooey cheddar cheese sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb Ground Beef (80/20 lean)
1 medium Yellow Onio
3 cloves Garlic
8 oz Elbow Macaroni
3 cups Beef Broth
14.5 oz Crushed Tomatoes
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Dried Italian Seasoning
0.5 tsp Salt
0.25 tsp Black Pepper
1.5 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 oz Cream Cheese
1 tbsp Fresh Parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant
  3. Pour in the beef broth and crushed tomatoes. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer
  4. Add the dry elbow macaroni to the mixture. Bring back to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until the pasta is al dente
  5. Remove from the heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and softened cream cheese until completely melted and the sauce is smooth
  6. Let the pasta sit for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving

Notes

Drain the beef thoroughly to prevent an oily sauce.

Do not overcook the pasta; aim for al dente as it will continue to soften as it rests.

Freshly shredded cheese melts more smoothly than pre-shredded varieties.

Use room temperature cream cheese to ensure it melts without leaving lumps.
