Ingredients

1 cup Granulated sugar
½ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon Baking soda
½ teaspoon Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
2 Large eggs
½ cup Whole milk
¼ cup Vegetable oil
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
½ cup Boiling water
½ cup Unsalted butter
2 cups Powdered sugar
23 tablespoons Heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients
  3. In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients until smooth
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients without overmixing
  5. Add boiling water to the batter and mix until smooth
  6. Fill prepared pans and bake for 20-25 minutes
  7. Cool cakes in pans then remove to cool completely
  8. Make the frosting by beating softened butter and gradually adding powdered sugar until smooth
  9. Assemble and frost the cooled cake layers
  10. Decorate as desired and serve

Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light and fluffy.
